City Centre Tertiary Campus
Priority One worked with the Bay of Plenty Tertiary Partnership, SmartGrowth, Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust, Tauranga City Council and Bay of Plenty Regional Council on the development of a unique tertiary and research campus in Tauranga’s city centre. Tauranga City Council has gifted land in Durham Street for the development of a University of Waikato-led research campus, and the Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Tauranga Consumer Energy Trust will each contribute up to $15 million in funding. The $88.8 million development will roll out in two stages, with the first to be completed by 2020.
Greenstone Group has been appointed to manage the design and build of the new campus, while Jasmax has been appointed as architects for the project. The University of Waikato has appointed Associate Professor Ken Perszyk to the position of Academic Director to lead the development of programmes of study for the new campus in Tauranga’s city centre.
