Come to the Edge : Derek Handley

During February 2015 Priority One hosted internationally renowned New Zealand entrepreneur, Derek Handley, to an event in Tauranga which was attended by over 350 business people.  The key theme of his presentation was the growing global trend to try and build business models where the outcome created has a positive social and/or environmental impact.  This means creating companies and ventures that solve the challenges of our generation at the same time as creating profitable, attractive commercial outcomes.  In 2012 Derek donated a year of his life to help Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, Jean Oelwang, CEO of Virgin United and Jochen Zeitz, former Chairman of Puma, to create what is now The B Team.  It is a not-for-profit initiative involving a global group of leaders to create a future where the purpose of business is to be a driving force for social, environmental and economic benefit.  As founding CEO, Derek helped grow the team from two to 16 influential and visionary leaders.  Derek is currently ‘Entrepreneur in Residence’ at The B Team.
