Groundswell Festival of Innovation
Priority One leads the annual Groundswell festival of innovation, which creates a week-long series of events to showcase how people and businesses in the Bay are leading the way though innovation. Nearly 7000 participants took part in the inaugural festival, which was held from 7-13 August 2017.
Groundswell creates a programme to engage thought leaders, businesses and organisations with a common goal to encourage collaboration, conversations and connections. It includes forums, presentations, workshops, networking events, open days and exhibitions to demonstrate the diverse range of creativity taking place in the Bay.
The 2017 event was lucky enough to attract top New Zealand and international innovation talent including Nike innovation developer Wade Flanagan, who was brought up in Tauranga, and ex NASA scientist and Fusion Space Technologies chief executive, Sinead O'Sullivan. It also included the Blue2Green international biotechnology convention.
Priority One was supported in delivering the 2017 Groundswell festival of innovation by key partners Tauranga City Council, Callaghan Innovation, Bay of Connections and Cucumber. Sponsors of the events were University of Waikato, Tauranga Chamber of Commerce, KPMG, Scion, Village, Design Thinking Meetup group and Blythe Rees Jones.
