Land Water Culture - Ngā tikanga o te wai me te whenua

Priority One’s Instep programme is working with medium school Te Wharekura o Mauao, the University of Waikato’s Coastal Marine Field Station and the House of Science on a Maori led programme for rangatahi to understand their potential and the application behind the science within a land, water and cultural context.  This project will use the te repo/wetland restoration project developed by Te Wharekura o Mauao as the basis for the delivery.  Activities undertaken to date have included the development of three bilingual land and water-based science resource kits which will be used by schools to encourage more Māori students to study science and three field trips to help students understand their potential as Maori in careers and enterprise that combine science, innovation and culture.
