Our competitive advantage
Marine Services
Overview
The Western Bay of Plenty is globally recognised as home to some of the world's best boat design and construction firms. The local marine industry is involved in the building, designing, sales, storage and servicing of pleasure and commercial boats, including international racing yachts. Tauranga's facilities are perfectly suited to boaties and yachties and designed to cater for the manufacture of composite yachts, including all design, electrical, engineering, stainless steel, upholstery, joinery and cabinetmaking. The most modern production technologies are combined with the finest of traditional craftsmanship to produce leading edge vessels.
Harbour Central Marine Precinct
Harbour Central is an initiative that will see a state of the art marine business park developed on land on Mirrielees Road beside the Tauranga harbour bridge. It is a partnership between Priority One, Tauranga City Council and Tauranga Marine Industry Association. An economic impact study has forecast up to 520 new jobs and over $100 million of revenue into the economy from a development of this type. A staged approach to the development is being undertaken, which will include sophisticated new haul-out and marine refit infrastructure, an environmentally compliant paint shed, as well as marine related retail, offices and research facilities. Investment opportunities for the site are currently being sought. For further information, email andrew@priorityone.co.nz.
Tauranga Marine Industries Association
Priority One works closely with Tauranga Marine Industries Association, a cluster group of local companies from across the marine industry. The cluster works with members to grow their businesses through networking, referrals and sharing technical expertise. The combined resources of the cluster provide world class marine services extending to luxury yacht and commercial fleet operators. There is a strong service sector completing maintenance work on existing boats, including fishing boats and the numerous overseas cruising yachts that call into the port throughout the year and Tauranga Bridge Marina has one of the largest selections of berth sizes in the South Pacific. In addition, a purpose built boat-stack has been developed at Sulphur Point which has storage for up to 200 boats. The secure facility is open seven days a week and can have boats in the water and ready to go 45 minutes after receiving instruction. For further information, visit www.tmia.co.nz.
