Young Innovator Awards (yia) 2021 registrations are officially open for 2021! The 2021 Launch went off in true yia fashion with a room full of passionate people ready to get behind our rangatahi.
Things are looking a little different this year for yia with the launch of our new brand. This year we wanted to personalise the yia experience to be more relatable to the students. Rather than focus just on ideas, we want to talk more about the people behind the ideas. Where does the idea come from? What is the personal journey and how has this inspired the idea?
As the innovators of tomorrow, our rangatahi have so much to offer.
Calling all teachers.
For teachers, all resources can be accessed via the teachers portal to share with students and other teachers in your schools – let us know if you have any trouble accessing these.
This year we have five themes to encourage students to think about the social impact of their entries.
Check them out below.
Social - how might we help people around the world feel less isolated?
Environmental - how might we remove single-use plastics in lunchboxes?
Economic - how might we support local tourism attractions while borders are closed?
Cultural - how might we celebrate multicultural holidays in our daily lives?
Anything goes - a category for any idea!
Guess what? We are teaming up with YES!
We've collaborated with Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) to create a full innovation education pathway for students in the Western Bay of Plenty. http://youngenterprise.org.nz/
