The plan aims to capture more value for the F&B sector by both enhancing our traditional foods and scaling up our emerging foods. There are now 70 green building councils around the world\, representing over 36\,000 members. \nNZGBC are the certifiers for Green Star rated buildings. With three developments in the Priority One Tauranga CBD Blueprint registered to be 6-star rated Green Star buildings; including Tauranga City Council’s new office building at 90 Devonport Road\, headed by developers Willis Bond\, which is set to be the largest mass timber office building in New Zealand and will target a net zero carbon footprint for the building’s construction process; this is a first in the history of Tauranga to have buildings constructed to this level. For more information on the build\, see the latest media release:New Zealand’s largest mass timber office building set to be built in Tauranga’s city centre. \nJoin us to hear from NZGBC’s technical coordinator and Tauranga’s local connect\, James Woods\, to gain a better understanding of what it means to develop a Green Star building and the process required to achieve this. Trained in industrial design\, he cut his teeth working in consultancies around the globe before coming back to raise a family and help kiwi companies take on the world. For the last 5 years he has been working as design leader and a senior industrial designer at Robotics Plus\, a world leading robotics company based right here in the Western Bay.\nNick Pickering is a Lecturer at University of Waikato. Nick has 25 years of industry experience across the UK\, Sweden\, Germany\, Australia & NZ)\, before moving into a research career spanning automation\, navigation\, sensing and digital twins. Nick and his team won the Prototype Award at the 2022 Fieldays Innovation Awards for their Kiwifruit Human Assisted Harvesting project – e-Bin project.\n\nCarl and Nick are working at the bleeding edge of application of robotics and other automation technologies in the field. Debbie has over a decade of involvement in the Circular Economy space\, both nationally and internationally. She has delivered a CE Masterclass for Green Building Council Australia\, been appointed to the College of Assessors as a CE expert for MBIE\, and is an Affiliate Academic to the University of Newcastle. She has also been appointed to the Australian Circular Economy Hub (ACEHUB) and Hunter Joint Organization Circular Procurement Working Groups\, while also participating in multiple Technical Advisory Groups on workforce development and system enablers.\n\n  \n\nAndrew Fisher\, Founder & Director at Ecogas\nAndrew Fisher is the Managing Director of both EcoStock Supplies and EcoGas Limited Partnership. He was the recipient of the Sustainability Superstar Award at the NZI New Zealand Sustainable Business Network Awards 2019. Andrew has made a significant impact on the waste minimisation sector in a relatively short amount of time. He is responsible for the development of the Ecogas Facility\, New Zealand’s first anaerobic digestive facility\, which is now fully operational based in Reperoa.\n\n  \n\nJames Flexman\, Head of Sustainable Strategy & Planning at Mercury\nJames Flexman\, Head of Sustainable Strategy & Planning at Mercury Energy\, has a mechanical engineering degree from Auckland University\, and 8 years’ experience in Pulp and Paper manufacturing with Carter Holt Harvey. He pursued an MBA at Oxford before joining an electricity generator/retailer in England\, returning to New Zealand to rejoin Carter Holt Harvey as energy manager\, and later heading their recycling company for seven years. Nine years ago\, he joined Mercury NZ Limited\, initially leading the Wholesale Markets function\, operating hydro power stations\, trading and selling electricity to commercial customers.\n\n  \n\nAndrew Clennett\, Chief Executive at Hiringa\nAndrew Clennett is the Co-Founder and CEO of Hiringa Energy. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and has held several directorship and trustee positions\, including former Director of Shell Todd Oil Services (STOS)\, Trustee of Energy Skills NZ\, and is currently a board member of the New Zealand Hydrogen Council. Andrew has served on national and international industry working committees\, examples including Aotearoa Circle Low Carbon Emission Roadmap Technical Advisory Group and World Energy Council Hydrogen Working Group. Andrew has over 26 years of energy industry experience and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical) with Honours from the University of Tasmania.\n\n  \n\nNathan Searle\, Head of Strategy at Ballance Agri-Nutrients\nNathan has held several Director roles over fifteen years across the value chain of New Zealand’s largest company.  He heads up a global leadership development business and is a Tasmanian food producer.  Currently the Head of Strategy at Ballance Agri-Nutrients\, Nathan is focused on evolving NZ food production to deliver more productivity on a lighter footprint and the requirement to transition large manufacturing operations to be fit for a low emissions future.  Nathan is passionate about sustainability\, innovation\, and agriculture\, and is a regular speaker on these topics at industry conferences and events.

That’s why we’re rallying our community to come together and make a difference. Donating blood is a simple and quick process that can have a huge impact on someone’s life. In fact\, just one donation can help save up to three lives! \nBy taking just a few minutes out of your day to donate\, you’ll not only be helping those in need\, but you’ll also be contributing to our collective effort to ensure that our community has a reliable and sustainable blood supply.
