Export Master Class: Launching into Market

ExportNZ Bay of Plenty is holding an export master class that will look at launching into global markets with a clear line of sight to your customers.  Speakers include Blythe Rees-Jones, Rob Achten and Chris Meade, founding partners of Launchsight – a global insights collective focused on developing and launching new consumer products and scaling them in international markets.  Attendees will learn a simple approach for connecting with international customers, the things you can do here before you go and how to test and adapt your thinking on the fly.  This event is being held from 8am-11am on Thursday 8 November (venue to be advised) and costs $85+GST for Export / EMA members to attend and $150+GST for non-members.  For further information and to register, visit https://tinyurl.com/launchmarket.

Succession Planning Seminar

Japan Strategy Builder

The workshop programme has been created by the Japan New Zealand Business Council and the North Asia Centre for Asia Pacific Excellence and is hosted in by ExportNZ Bay of Plenty.  It will cover consumer research, case studies and insights from market experts so attendees can strengthen their understanding and approach to the Japanese market.  It will provide an immersive and interactive learning experience for executives and middle management.  This workshop is being held over two consecutive days, from 9am until 4.30pm on Wednesday 14 November and from 9am until 2pm on Thursday 15 November.  The venue is the Smart Business Centre, 65 Chapel St, Tauranga and there is no charge to attend, but registrations are essential.

Tax and governance - an interactive workshop

Paul Hodson, the owner and director of PGH Advisory, will be hosting an Institute of Directors workshop on understanding organisational tax risk and how it is managed.  Attendees will learn about tax accounting and how to read and understand the tax disclosures in financial reports and real life examples will be referred to.  It will also cover the kinds of questions to ask of management and what to expect from your accountant and auditor.  This event is being held from 12pm until 2pm on Wednesday 14 November and costs $35 for IoD members and $45 for non-members.  Click here for further information and to register.

The journey of entrepreneurs - is there a finish line?

Tauranga-based technology incubator, WNT Ventures, is presenting ‘Startup Folk’ - a series of events for budding entrepreneurs.  The first one will feature presentations from three entrepreneurs that provide insights into their journey.  Speakers include: Matt Watkins of Onesixone Limited (SoundSwitch); Brendan Darby of MaramaLabs (CloudSpec); and WNT Ventures’ investment manager, Laura Faulconer.  This event is being held from 5pm to 6.30pm on Thursday 14 November at Basestation, 148 Durham St, Tauranga.  There is not charge to attend but registrations are essential.

Waikato Management School in Tauranga: leading through innovation

A unique opportunity has been created for managers and executives to help shape the development of tertiary education in our region and we are encouraging local business people to get involved.  Priority One is partnering with the University of Waikato Management School to host a workshop for managers ahead of the launch of the new tertiary campus in 2019.  The workshop will have a practical orientation, including how the Management School can develop world-class offerings that are distinctive in their orientation to solving the challenges faced by the Bay.  This workshop is being held from 7.30am until 9.30am on Tuesday 20 November at Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club, Sulphur Pt, Tauranga.  There is no charge to attend, but registrations are essential to annie@priorityone.co.nz by Thursday 15 November.  A light breakfast will be served.

Bay of Plenty Property Council Corporate Golf Day 2018

The Bay of Plenty Property Council is hosting their annual Corporate Golf Day at the Omanu Golf Club, providing a great opportunity to network with clients and colleagues whilst competing in the challenging 18 hole Ambrose Tournament.  The major prize is $10,000 for a hole-in-one at the 17th.  There will be on-course entertainment and drinks carts to keep everyone on their best form.  Registration per team includes course fees, lunch, afternoon beverages and after-match canapes and refreshments.  The golf day will be held from 11.45am until 6pm on Thursday 22 November at the Omanu Golf Club, 98 Matapihi Rd, Tauranga.  It costs $275 for Bay of Plenty Property Council members and $550 for non-members to enter a team of four.  Click here for further information and to register.

CL2IMB Tauranga: accelerating Maori businesses

CL2IMB is a three hour event designed to share information, opportunities and connections to support and accelerate Māori businesses.  If you are part of the growing Māori economy as a business or agency, you will gain knowledge, valuable contacts and access to resources.  The programme will cover funding sources, training opportunities, accessing mentors and accelerator programmes, to name a few.  This event takes place from 3pm-6pm on Thursday 22 November 2018 at ASB Baypark (Arena Suite 1).  There is no charge but numbers are limited and registrations will be taken on a first in, first served basis.  Click here for the programme of speakers and here to register.

IoD Christmas Lunch with former chair of Telecom

BWN Lunch - Pay Equity and Closing the Gender Gap

MOPED Event - all you need to know about Instagram

The last event of the year for Marketing Professionals BOP (MOPED) will have a focus on all things Instagram.  Guest speakers are Tasha and Vivien – Instagram experts and co-founders of Instagram specialist company, Ace The Gram.  When they first met, Tasha and Vivien were both using Instagram to drive traffic for business or career progression purposes.  They put their heads together, did lots of research and testing to come up with the best strategies to drive traffic, make sales and build influencer profiles.  Their dedication and passion for results is what led them to achieve rates of 3,000+ new followers per month for some accounts and more than 6,000 posts from other Instagram users using a client’s branded hashtag.  This event starts at 5pm on Thursday 22 November and is being held at  Tauranga Yacht & Power Boat Club, Sulphur Point, Tauranga.  It costs $30 per person to attend.  Click here for further information and to register.

Better Exporting Meetup - valuable exchange of exporting knowledge

ExportNZ Bay of Plenty has set up a meetup group where small groups of exporters get together to talk about any issues they are facing as international traders.  Held as round table events, the next Better Exporting Meetup will take place from 4pm until 6pm on Thursday 22 November at Beca, 32 Harington St, Tauranga.  The speakers will be Pete Edmondson, sales manager at Puma Dart Products, and Kevin Flint, GM at Oasis Engineering.  Attendees often receive unexpected information that is valuable to them, hear about problems and solutions they may not have faced yet, and are able to obtain input from a range of experts with varying perspectives across differing industry sectors.  Numbers for these events are limited, so registrations are only accepted from exporting businesses.  Click here for further information and to register to attend.

BWN Christmas Celebration Lunch with the Raw Foundation
