The e-bike experience is for those who can ride a regular bike and would now like to practice e-bike handling skills. Perhaps you have been riding an e-bike for a while and just want to be better at it.
The course is an introduction to electric bikes and includes 2 hours of riding in an court space before moving to shared paths and quiet local roads. It will help you get the most out of your e-bike so you can ride safer and longer.
The course content is tailored to cover the nuances of riding an e-bike on paths and the road.
Learn about what makes an e-bike different to a standard bike. Understand the controls and the motor, how to manage the power settings and make use of the gears. E-bike skills will include starting and stopping safely, turning, looking all around and signalling, stopping quickly with control, where to ride on the road, passing parked vehicles, how to move through intersections and more.

Buddy Meyer is Adult cycling Educator for Western Bay of Plenty and is part of the Travel safe team at Tauranga Regional Council. He has been involved with cycle skills training for over 3 years. What he loves most about his job is passing on his own love, passion and knowledge for cycling, healthy/active lifestyle and well-being to others. Born in Tauranga, Buddy knows his way around the city and is happy to share with others how to make the most of cycling in this region.
