Winning the Momenta Live your Life Award: A journey of leadership and growth

When I first applied for the Instep Young Leaders’ Forum, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew I wanted to grow as a leader, connect with others, and challenge myself, but I didn’t realise just how transformative the experience would be.

Being selected for the 2025 programme was an honour in itself. The application process was rigorous, and knowing that the panel was  made up of returning young leaders took the time to consider each submission with care made the opportunity feel even more meaningful. From the very first session, I felt surrounded by people who were passionate, driven, and ready to make a difference.

One of the most memorable moments of my journey so far has been receiving the Momenta Live your Life Award. This award recognises people with disabilities who have a lifelong dream. For me, winning it wasn’t just about the recognition it was about what it represented. It reminded me that leadership isn’t just about being the loudest voice in the room; it’s about listening, showing up, and staying true to your values even when things get tough.

Instep has given me the chance to explore leadership in a real-world context. Whether it’s engaging with local businesses, learning from mentors, or collaborating with other students, every experience has helped me grow not just as a leader, but as a person. I’ve learned that leadership is about connection, courage, and creating space for others to thrive.

As I continue this journey, I’m excited to keep learning, keep leading, and keep showing what’s possible when young people are given the chance to step up.

Now, I’m chasing the opportunity of a lifetime: to attend the prestigious Teen Advanced Acting Program at the New York School of Creative and Performing Arts (SOCAPA) in June 2026. For three weeks, I’ll train alongside passionate young artists from across the globe and learn from industry professionals in acting, stagecraft, and screen performance.

I’ve already received $10,000 through the Momenta Live the Life You Love Award, and now I’m rallying to raise the final $7,500 to make this dream a reality. This journey isn’t just about me; it’s a statement to every young person who’s ever felt underestimated: your voice matters, your dreams are valid, and your passion can move mountains.

To reach my goal, I’m launching a series of community fundraising events and sponsorship opportunities. I’ll also run other initiatives such as sausage sizzles, raffles, bake sales, and local events, and I’m reaching out to businesses for sponsorship. Every contribution, big or small, brings me one step closer to SOCAPA and to inspiring others to follow their dreams.

Any funds raised above my goal will be donated to the Cerebral Palsy Society

As a thank you to those who support my journey, I’d love to give back by sharing my story. When I return from SOCAPA, I’m available to speak at schools, community groups, or events about my experience, what I learned, and how we can all chase bold dreams, no matter the challenges. If you’d like me to inspire your group, please reach out!
