P1 newsletter - 28 July

Kia ora,

This coming Monday marks the re-opening of New Zealand’s international borders to all visa categories, and the maritime border to foreign-flagged vessels. While we understand that local businesses continue to struggle with filling vacant positions and managing staffing issues around Covid, we are optimistic that the border reopening will pave a way forward for increased visitor spend and international recruitment opportunities.

To make sure local businesses are equipped to take advantage of the opportunities that a return to full internationalisation will bring, we have partnered with leading experts in immigration and law to deliver a talent attraction and immigration workshop. If you are thinking about recruiting from overseas now, or in the next 12 months, this event is for you. Find out more and register your place here.

As school returns for the second half of 2022, a focus on career pathways will become prominent for many senior students and their parents. To help with preparing for a job market that is changing faster than ever before, we have published our Priority One Instep Informer (Term 3), focused on preparing youth with the transferable skills necessary to succeed for the Future of Work. You can read the full Instep Informer here.

To further promote career opportunities and help make clear the pathways to them, we remind you that the Canvas Careers Expo will be held on 12-13 August 2022. Find out more here.
